The Umweltkompetenzzentrum Rhein-Neckar e.V., UKOM in short, was founded in 2003 on the initiative of then Environmental Mayor and current Lord Mayor Prof. Dr. Würzner in order to network and further develop regional environmental competencies in business, science, education, administration and politics in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
Today, the association is managed by decision-makers from business, administration and politics and works closely with partners from science and services as well as with associations. In addition to professional and technical competence, UKOM has a clear idea of which path is successful and promising for companies. Our industrial mission statement is a production process in which raw materials are used as fully as possible and the resulting emissions are minimised or converted. To this end, UKOM acts as a catalyst and multiplier of the idea: "Protect the environment, preserve industry - in harmony with each other". Among other things, this objective leads to a strengthening of regional competitiveness and inter-company and political networking.
