The conference "Future of Building" on 4 June 2019 in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber was held this year together with the natureplus annual conference. With over 700 visitors it was a great success. The International Association for Sustainable Building and Housing natureplus was present as an official partner with a large booth, side by side with its Austrian partner IBO, who had planned this event to a large extent. All visitors found information material from natureplus in their conference bags, including the new edition of naturenews (see attachment).

Austrian manufacturers with natureplus-certified products such as Baumit, forbo, Fundermax, Isolena and Wienerberger were also represented as exhibitors. The companies Sto, Thermofloc, Röfix and Xella showed examples of sustainable products with the natureplus test mark. At this large networking event, the numerous visitors from Austria (303 persons) and another 60 countries had the opportunity for many conversations, which was also used extensively. The natureplus booth was also well frequented.

The main topics of the lectures, podium discussions and innovation workshops at the "Future of Building" included timber and hybrid constructions, intelligent and environmentally friendly urban living concepts as well as digital building.

The sustainability goals of natureplus were reflected in the programme of the building congress with contributions from Asia, Africa and Austria: from timber construction in cities, from the avoidance of heat islands to inner-city greening and energy generation from waste water, from the recycling potential of building materials to near-natural building materials such as wood, straw and clay to highly developed products and components such as ecological mineral plasters, mineral wall paints and insulating bricks. The optimization of construction processes through 3D printing and intelligent prefabrication as well as digitalization are topics that the construction industry cannot ignore.

Festive finale

In the evening, the AUSTRIAN GREEN PLANET BUILDING AWARDS 2019 for outstanding achievements in sustainable building by Austrian companies abroad were awarded in the magnificent banqueting hall of the Theresianum. Among others, the long-time IBO member Georg Reinberg and his team won the prize with the 1st Passive House "House Leis" in Estonia. In this festive setting, the meeting of natureplus members in Vienna ended with many new ideas and plans for further cooperation.
